SAP PP Master Data

SAP PP (Production planning)

Master Data

The word master data indicates that it is a data we need to maintain in SAP system for product structure, processes, capacity planning and availability of material. The master data control planning and execution processes. Master data is an important part of any SAP module, It can be crucial for success or failure of implementation.
The important master data in SAP PP are Material master, Bill of material (BOM), Routing and Work center. Sometimes we use production version to minimize efforts and take advantages of selection of master data, production version is combination of BOM and Routing.

1.   Material Master
Material Master Data having all the information related to different material type like Finish material, Semi-finish material, Raw material, Spare parts and Packaging material. Here we maintain basic data, material requirement planning data (MRP), Purchasing data and etc.

T-code for Master Data:      MM01 – Creation
                                            MM02 – Change
                                            MM03- Display

Path:  SAP menu > Logistic > Production > Master data > Material > Create (Immediately)

2.  Bill Of Material:
BoM is a list of all necessary components/ Material which is required for final product or assembly. The BOM contain structural relationship among the individual component according to BOM type. Discrete and repetitive industry it is use as BOM where in process industry it is known as recipe. We can create up to 99 BOM.
T-Code for BOM:        CS01 – Create
                                  CS02 – Change
                                  CS03 – Display

Path:  SAP menu > Logistic > production > Master Data > Bill of Material > Bill of material > Material BOM > Create.

3.   Routing:
Routing is sequence of activities to convert raw material to finished product. The sequence of all activities performed at work center. We can describe what is to be produced, in what fashion, and what materials are needed for the production. Using routing we can calculate production cost, machine time and labor time.

T-code for routing:      CA01 – Create
                                    CA02 – Change
                                    CA03 – Display

Path: SAP menu > Logistic > Production > Mater data > Routings > Routings > Standard Routing > Create.

4.  Work Center:
Work Center is a place where all production work can be perform. It is play an important role to represent the central capacity quantity within production planning. The work center can be used for activities like scheduling, production costing and Capacity planning.

T-Code for Work center:       CR01 – Create
                                             CR02 – Change.
                                             CR 03 – Display

Path: SAP menu > Logistic > Production > Master data > Work center > Work center > create.

SAP PP (Production planning)

Introduction

Sap production planning is one of important SAP module. It is deal with planning processes.
In simple word we can say that it is planning process between raw material and finished goods.
Processes known as material availability, capacity panning, material planning, creation and execution of production/processes order. We have to maintain all those processes in SAP which we perform at shop floor. SAP PP having different industry like discrete manufacturing, Repetitive manufacturing and Processes industry.

1.       Discrete manufacturing:
Discrete manufacturing is the manufacturing of individual finished products that can be counted, touched, and seen. In this manufacturing processes material can be produce in lots. The cost of material can be calculated with respect to production order and lots

2.       Repetitive manufacturing:
In repetitive manufacturing same product can be produce for long time. The production can be take place in total quantity not in individual lots. In repetitive manufacturing cost can be calculated with respect to production version.

3.       Processes Manufacturing:
In processes industry material can be produce by using formula and recipes. Repetitive and processes industry are quite similar. In both industries material can be produce for long time but in repetitive industry we can reverse the process which is not possible in process industry.

Basic over view of organizational structure:

From organization structure you will be able to define the location of manufacturing plants and storage locations within the plant. At the higher level of structure, you have the company and the company code and then each company code contains different plant and storage locations.

1.       All planning activities are performing at plant level.
2.       Movements of goods and confirmation of product can be perform at plant and storage level.
